Fools Wisdom

“FOOL’S WISDOM” by Malcolm & Alwyn 1973

Got myself some wisdom from a leather back book
Got myself a Savior when I took a second look
I opened up the pages and what did I find
A black and white portrait of a king who’s a friend of mine
Funny how when you think you’re right everybody else must be wrong
Till someone with fools wisdom somehow comes along
His voice was strange and the words he said I didn’t quite understand
Yet I knew that He was speaking right by the leather back book in his hand
Hey Hey what a day! Fools Wisdom
Hey Hey what a day! Fools Wisdom
Got myself some wisdom from a leather backed book
Got myself a savior when I took a second look

I am amazed how God has given His Word to reveal Who He is and What His plan was and is and will to come. To some it is Fool's Wisdom.

1 Corinthians 4:10 (English Standard Version)
10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute.

1 Corinthians 1:27 (English Standard Version)
27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;

Here is a update video of Alwyn Wall and His Son singing the same song. What a kind God that would bless Alwyn's faithfulness by letting him minister with his son.

Water Grave

Water Grave by Servant, 1979

In my house there's been a mercy killing.
The man I used to be has been crucified.
And the death of this man was the final way of revealing,
In the spiritual way to live, I had to die.
Now if I let that dead man linger in me,
I might get a little idle in my way.
So, I'm going down to the celebration river,
And take this dead man down to a water grave.

I'm goin' down to the river.
And I'm gonna be buried alive.
I want to show my Heavenly Father,
The man I use to be has finally died.

Now when I think of where I'm goin',
In terms of where I've been,
It makes me glad to know, my Lord, that I've been born again.
Now when I think of where I'm goin',
In terms of where I've been,
It makes me glad to know, my Lord, that I've been born again.

I'm goin' down to the river,
And I'm gonna be buried alive, in Jesus Name,
I want to show my Heavenly Father,
The man I use to be has finally died.

Romans 6:6 (English Standard Version)
6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.

Galatians 2:20 (English Standard Version)
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Here is another one of those songs made by a group of people that were never the same after they repented and placed their trust for Salvation in Jesus Christ. Alot of the music in those days was not for entertainment purposes. It was music to feed on, and grow closer to Jesus Christ. To draw a person toward reading the Word of God and enforce what the Scriptures already said. That message is so hard to get across to younger generations and even some older ones.

Folks, each day could be our last. Yes, I do like to be entertained but It should be on the last of my "to do list". When I stand before the King of Kings. What my eternal spirit has fed on while I was on this planet will determine what has Given Him Glory Honor and what has not.

I was challenged and convicted every time I listen to this song. Not entertained. Yes I like the beat and the style but it was only the horse that the lyrics rode. There are times that I fall into sin and I would be reminded of the scriptures that tell me that I was dead to my sin. I no longer dive into sin but when I fall he sends His Holy Spirit through the Bible to cause me to grow stronger. That is why alot of the Jesus Music of the past is "growth food" and not entertainment. Please don't be offended but look at life eternally and not just for "Now".

Erick Nelson: Flow River Flow & Soldiers of the Cross

When my desires and motives changed because of what the Gospel did in my life. I started to look for music that would keep my heart and mind on Jesus Christ. I wanted to treasure Him more then anything else. Listening to the same music before the Gospel did not make any sense to me. "I once was lost but now I am found". Why should I listen to lyrics from songwriters that were still searching what I found in Jesus Christ. I remember one afternoon after morning classes from Bible College. I went to Canadian Bible Society Book Store in Moose Jaw, Sask. And there it was. The Maranatha! Music! label. Young people like myself singing for that Greatest treasure! One of those was Erick Nelson. I heard him from a group called "Good News". In those early days if it had a Marantha label on it you knew your spiritual life would grow. I took a change on "Flow River Flow by Erick Nelson, 1979. I would like to share the first two songs on side 1. They went hand in Hand. I have played them over and over and was blessed.
Soldier of the Cross featured a voice so pure that I can only say that for a few female singers: Michele Pillar, HoneyTree, Kelly Willard and Ora-Lee Greening.
Michele Pillar music has blessed my spiritual walk many times in the past. In the future I will say more about her songs.

Flow River Flow

Surely you're the saddest sound my ears have ever heard
Tied your body to your bed, you cannot speak a word
But through your frighten cries I know, my song can reach your heart
Just to love you
And David your the toughest little guy I've ever seen
You laboured under burdens that would make a grown man scream
And lately I've been wanting just to write you in my song
To tell you ...I love you
Flow river love river go where you must be goin'
clam down your mind
This very life is the darkest one I've seen
You see sometimes I've rather quit then face another day
I'm tired of my frustrations
I want to turn and run away
But if there's half a chance my song can help some blind man see
Lord, you can use me
Flow river love river go where you must be goin'
Brighten the night with your light to lighten up our way
Spirit stand
Show the way
That we must be goin'
Make bind men free
And help them see the brightness of Your Day
The brightness of Your Day

Soldiers of the Cross

I do not bow to silver, I will not live for gold
My life is mine to give away, it never will be sold
I may not seem impressive, I am not rich or strong
But I have heart to give away to help you carry on
Sometimes we grow weary of tolling in the night
We just smile and raise our heads and carry on the fight
For we know the demons will tremble
Each time they hear our song
With angels laughing in the air, hundred million strong, hundred million strong
We are soldiers of the Cross, we are soldiers of the Cross
The darkness holds much power
We have ten times more
Our Captain's time is Jesus Christ
And He has won the war, He was won the war
We are soldiers of the Cross, we are soldiers of the Cross

Eph. 6:5-20

5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, 6 not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7 rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, 8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. 9Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.
The Whole Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

Lamb: The Sacrifice Lamb

There was not a lot of worship music in the early 70's that reached my generation. Lamb was that group. There songs had Biblical themes woven in them. There were God centred instead of man centred. I spend many a hour listening to their album and thanking God for His salvation.
There is also a video of Joel Chernoff singing the same song. When I see and hear that these individuals are still trusting in the Saviour Jesus Christ. No matter what they have gone through. They are still praising the same one they met and sang about many years ago. I pray that younger generations will take notice that Jesus Christ does not change and does not play favorites.

THE SACRIFICE LAMB, 1973

Joel Chernoff and Rick 'Levi' Coghill

Have you ever heard Messiah has come?
It says in His Word to cleanse every one
Atonement He made iniquity bore
That we can find life in Him evermore

The Sacrifice Lamb has been slain
His blood on the alter a stain
To wipe away guilt and pain
To bring hope eternal
Salvation has come to the world
God's only Son to the world
Jesus the one for the world
Yeshua is He

The prophets of old speak much of Messiah
His death is foretold the purpose is clear
Isaiah did say 'twas for an atonement
To give us a way that leads not to death

The Sacrifice Lamb has been slain
His blood on the alter a stain
To wipe away guilt and pain
To bring hope eternal
Salvation has come to the world
God's only Son to the world
Jesus the one for the world
Yeshua is He

So brothers of mine look not to yourselves
For we are but one we all need His help
We've broken the Law but He paid our debt
That we can find life by Yeshua's death

The Sacrifice Lamb has been slain
His Blood on the alter a stain
To wipe away guilt and pain
To bring hope eternal
So final atonement has come
And brought us new hope by God's Son
If you will believe in your heart
Yeshua you'll know

I Believe in you

This song was from Bob Dylan's album, Slow Train Coming in 1979.
This song was during a time in Bob Dylan's life that he first hear the Gospel. What he does with it doesn't change the Gospel. This was truly given by a Merciful God to use Bob to sing this song and others. It is a song of confession and no compromise. It sounds like the the life of Keith Green was a influence to Bob. In fact Bob played Harmonia on Keith Green's album: So You want to go Back to Egypt.

I Believe In You
They ask me how I feel
And if my love is real
And how I know I’ll make it through
And they, they look at me and frown
They’d like to drive me from this town
They don’t want me around
’Cause I believe in you

They show me to the door
They say don’t come back no more
’Cause I don’t be like they’d like me to
And I walk out on my own
A thousand miles from home
But I don’t feel alone
’Cause I believe in you

I believe in you even through the tears and the laughter
I believe in you even though we be apart
I believe in you even on the morning after
Oh, when the dawn is nearing
Oh, when the night is disappearing
Oh, this feeling is still here in my heart

Don’t let me drift too far
Keep me where you are
Where I will always be renewed
And that which you’ve given me today
Is worth more than I could pay
And no matter what they say
I believe in you

I believe in you when winter turn to summer
I believe in you when white turn to black
I believe in you even though I be outnumbered
Oh, though the earth may shake me
Oh, though my friends forsake me
Oh, even that couldn’t make me go back

Don’t let me change my heart
Keep me set apart
From all the plans they do pursue
And I, I don’t mind the pain
Don’t mind the driving rain
I know I will sustain
’Cause I believe in you

I've Been Down that Road: Ed Raetzloff

This was another song that gave me a thankful heart of where God's Mercy has brought me from. Remember that a person does not have to reach the depths of sin in order to be thankful for God's Mercy and Grace to reach down and save a law breaker (God's Laws). We all walk on the same ground of Adam's sin that he has passed down to us.
The song struck a cord when he describes the Sunday morning after a party. Being Alone and broken with despair. There was no hope in those days for me. I thought that I had my chance of repentance and that God has closed the door on me. I found out that this was a bold face lie. God's Word later told me He was still reaching out to me one more time.

He is a little information on Ed Raetzloff.

"ED RAETZLOFF"

'There are few albums with tastier, tigher rock than Ed Raetzloff's 'It took a long time to get to you'. A truely delightful offering of vocal intensity and excellent production, this disc is well worth repeated listens; it only gets better.

In the tradition of secular groups like "The Band" and the "Allman Brothers," Ed Raetzloff expresses a much different set of values. Once a member of "Blue Jug," a southern rock band. Ed was in the middle of a contract meeting with his label when the conviction of God fell on him. He made an earlier commitment to Christ, but as he realized what God required he suddenly tore up his contract and walked out.

'It took a long time to get to you'....is a love song to Jesus as well as an evangelist's call to repentance. There are humorous moments, as Ed describes waking up with an aching head and yellow fingers from "that fine Columbian." Through such gentle expose of the rock world, the message of deeper meaning and purpose comes through, an invitation from a heart preoccupied with the love of God.

(CORNERSTONE - Volume 9 Issue 51 pg. 41) - I hope someone decides to archive all the magazines, it would make a wonderful read, from a historical point of reference.

You Took My Shadows

In the words of his mama, "He was my only son."
In the words of his sister, "He was on the run."
In the words of his girl, "How could it end this way?"
In the words of his daddy, "Well he never had much to say."

Goodbye Kathy and goodbye Mom, there's voices in my head
Angel dust and tortured dreams say I'd be better dead

You, you chased the shadows because your hopes and dreams have been lost to the night

Hey, Billy, did you hear the news?
Johnny's gone for good
They say his mama's all broke up
They found him in the woods
Kathy just couldn't understand
Sheriff, he just looked tired
Some will play and some will pay
And Johnny played with fire

Johnny's dead and buried now out on the edge of town
Drove by his grave the other day, that's when the fear came down
I hate the night that took his life, but now it's haunting me
I may be young, may be confused but I gotta be free

God, are You there, can You hear me now?
Show me how to hope
Lost in the dark on a dead end road, please save me from myself

Lord, You, You took the shadows - all my fears and doubt and brought me out of the night
Lord, You , You take the shadows - give me hope and love and turn my darkness to light

I first heard this song about twelve years after I left Hammond, Ind. I went back around this time to see my Sister and Brother-in-law who were still living there. I took a walk again, where I use to walk when I was king of my own heart. Lost in total sin and rejection of God's Love and Salvation. I remember walking from one "friends" house to another to get high and "stoned". Walking those streets high on anything that would please me. I would sit on the corner in the middle of the night and just be totally wasted. Because of the drugs I actually thought the trees were walking with me like "lord of the Rings". I was lost, alone, and on my way to Hell without Redemption from Jesus Christ. So 12 years later I was walking these very same sidewalks and this very song came to me. And I began to cry as I walked. It was dark and no one was around. I started to sing that last phrase. "Lord, You, You took the shadows - all my fears and doubt and brought me out of the night.
Lord, You , You take the shadows - give me hope and love and turn my darkness to light
"
His Holy Spirit gave me such a time of rejoicing and prayer. I then started to pray for all my past "friends" that I got high with. I prayed and I am still praying that Jesus Christ will still take "Their Shadows"! That the Gospel of Jesus Christ will reach their hearts if they are still living.

Keith Green: Make My Life a Prayer to You

The first post is Keith Green singing this song of Prayer.
From the Album No Compromise
Produced by Bill Maxwell and Keith Green,
Released November 9, 1978

Soften Your Heart
Make My Life A Prayer To You
Dear John Letter (To The Devil)
How Can They Live Without Jesus
Asleep In The Light
My Eyes Are Dry
You!
I Don't Wanna Fall Away From You
Stained Glass
To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice
The Victor
Altar Call

Make my life a prayer to You
I wanna do what You want me to
No empty words and no white lies
No token prayers no compromise

I wanna shine the light You gave
Thru Your Son You sent to save us
From ourselves and our despair
It comforts me to know You're really there

Chorus
Well I wanna thank You now
For being patient with me
Oh it's so hard to see
When my eyes are on me
I guess I'll have to trust
And just believe what You say
Oh you're coming again
Coming to take me away

I wanna die and let You give
Your life to me so I might live
And share the hope You gave me
The love that set me free

I wanna tell the world out there
You're not some fable or fairy tale
That I've made up inside my head
You're God the Son and You've risen from the dead

Chorus

I wanna die and let You give
Your life to me so I might live
And share the hope You gave me
The love that set me free
