Let Go

Mustard Seed Faith 1975
Oden Fong (guitar and vocals)
Wade Link (guitar and vocals)
Pedro Buford (piano and vocals)
later:
Lewis McVay (guitar and vocals) replaced Wade Link

Their first album was a great blessing and encouragement during my College years. It was the first time that I even desired to do God's will instead of my own. And for me that was completely out of my nature. Thank God Jesus Christ gave me a new nature because of the Gospel. The song, Let Go, spoke to me about trusting in God when the road becomes hard.

Proverbs 3:5

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.

Let Go

You were hiking up a mountain and went climbing up a cliff
When you stumbled over something and you grabbed for the nearest bush
And you heard the branches snapping as the roots were gettin loose
And then all of a sudden was a hand held out to you
Let go
Let go
Let go of the bush in your hand
For I'm tryin help you
Get your feet off the crumpling sand
Well exploring through the jungle you reached up to pick some fruit
When you fell upon a mossy rock and did a loop-de- loop
And you landed in a bubbling bog of quick sand on your feet
And you grabbed the nearest branches that were hanging on the tree
Let go
Let go
Let go of the bush in your hand
For I'm tryin help you
Get your feet off the crumpling sand
Runnin through the park one night there were tar pits in the ground
Then you stumbled into one pit, with no one else around
Sinkin fast your heart was beating louder than a drum
Suddenly you realized there was no place to run
There again the branch was snapping again there was that Hand
Held out once again to a foolish dying man
Let go
Let go
Let go of the bush in your hand
For I'm tryin help you
Get your feet off the crumpling sand
Get your feet off the crumpling sand
Get your feet off the crumpling sand

Abandon your Heart

Randy joins a group of people that sang their songs for Jesus Christ in the 60's and 70's. Again God has been so Merciful and Gracious to them to live and tell the story of God's faithfulness to them.
This video is from First Love: a Historic Gathering of Jesus Music Pioneers 1998.

Randy Stonehill sings a song that has touched my heart since I first heard it from this DVD

Psalms 37:5

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.

Titus 2:12-14
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Abandon your Heart by Randy Stonehill

Like a man who has lost his memory
We're got in this calamity
The Truth of who we are
Is distant as the stars
So we paint our portraits in the dark
And build this lonely house of cards
But we are not sure what is real
And we are aching to be healed
And the hours we would cling to
flow like water through our hands
And we hear and see and think and feel
But we never understand
All the Glory and the meaning our days
Abandon your Heart and it will take flight
O its beating like a angel's wings
That long for heavens light
Abandon your heart just set it free
The Mighty Love of God calling
Abandon your heart to me
We'd deified our willfulness
Our prison walls are made of this
Our only hope awaits
Just beyond those wicket gates
We would go to almost any length to preserve this weakness we call strength
But peace can never dwell in a house of infidels
Then the fire of life burns in us
But it's power is denied
We are lost in frantic motion
We are never satisfied
But I swear it does not have to be this way
Abandon your Heart and it will take flight
O it's beating like a angel's wings that long for heavens light
Abandon your heart just set it free
The Mighty Love of God is calling
Abandon your heart to ME
All these things we try to hold
They only rob our thirsting souls and make us old
But when we dare to let go and unless
We will finally know the joy that always alludes our grasp
Abandon your heart
Abandon your heart
Abandon your heart
And it will take flight
O it's beating like a angel's wings that long for heavens light
Abandon your heart
Just set it free
The mighty Love of God calling
Abandon your heart to Me
Abandon your heart
Abandon your heart

Love Broke Through

Love Broke Through: Keith Green, Randy Stonehill, Todd Fishkind

Like a foolish dreamer that was trying to build
A highway to the sky
All my hopes would come tumblin down
And I never knew just why
Until today when You pulled away the clouds
That hung like curtains on my eyes.
Iive been blind all these wasted years when
I thought I was so wise.
But then You took me by surprise.

Like waking up from the longest dream
How real it seemed
Until Your love broke through
And I was lost in a fantasy
That blinded me
Until your love broke through.

All my life I have been searching
For that crazy missing part
And With one touch You just rolled away
The stone that held my heart,
Now I see that the answer was as easy
As just askin you in
And I am so sure I could never doubt
Your gentle touch again
It's like the power of the wind.

Like waking up from the longest dream
How real it seemed
Until Your love broke through
Ive been lost in a fantasy
That blinded me
Until your love broke through.
Like waking up from the longest dream
How real it seemed
Until Your love broke through
Until Your love broke through

For so many people this song tells their life Story. "Like a foolish dreamer, trying to build a highway to the sky". I first heard this from Keith Green's first album: For Those Who have Ears. It was my song again of thankfulness to God for entering my past, giving me Grace to live in the present and Mercy to see Him and bow before Him in the future. Please let this song touch you. Don't let the "world " attitude, that just because it is not in my accepted playlist I can't use the lyrics to draw you closer to the Saviour. If you do not see your life as a totally depraved sinner before a Holy God. The repeated phrase, Until your Love broke Through will not mean anything.
For Those Who have Ears!
Please Hear.

Two Roads: Country Faith

Two Roads: Chuck Butler & Tom Stipe

Feel the warmth around you
Hear the music in the air
Feel the Peace around
Smiling faces everywhere
Listen closely to the words we share
Our Lord Jesus wants to take you there
Does all of this confound you
Do you want to understand
Make the choice before you
You're own will or Lord Jesus plan
Do your choosing please don't hesitate
Eternity lies in the choice you make
Two Roads from which to choose
Road to Glory or the Fools Highway
Two Roads from which to choose
Rocky one or the Lord's new FreeWay
Choose before the Saviour Comes
Road to Glory or the Rocky One
Please decide before the Lord descends
Sweet Lord to Glory or the Bitter End
Road to Glory or the Fools Highway
Rocky one or the Lord's new FreeWay
Choose before the Saviour Comes
Road to Glory or the Rocky One
Please decide before the Lord descends
Sweet Lord to Glory or the Bitter End
Does all of this confound you
Do you want to understand
Make the choice before you
You're own will or Lord Jesus plan
Do your choosing please don't hesitate
Eternity lies in the choice you make

I had a Bible School instructor that introduced me to the album:
The Everlastin' Living Jesus Music Concert. It was one of the main introductions to Jesus Music. There was a song that reached my heart again. Being a new believer I recognized that the Road I entered into was complete and their was no turning back.
My choosing this type of music to minster to my spiritual life. I still had to be discerning of what was truth and what was man centred. I must be truthful to say that my wisdom was lacking to look at a song and beware of it's biblical shortcomings.
Looking back at this band and others they had the same pitfall. Their great desire to communicate Jesus was they main goal but their was a good possibility that older brothers were not their to give them biblical correction. I just wanted to be careful to recognize the danger of relying too much on feelings but on the Instruction of the Word of God through the Holy Spirit. Feelings are a God's gift to mankind but they can be deceptive if not guided by the final Authority of His Word.
This was a simple song to tell people to make a choice before time runs out. Either our hearts stop or Jesus Christ comes to the Earth.

Here is another updated video of one of the singers: Chuck Butler. Again it is a great encouragement to see these men and women still walking with the Risen Saviour. And singing His Songs.

Live for Jesus, Or should I say Jesus Living in You!

http://http//www.honeytree.org/

O I want to be Remembered
as a girl who sang her songs for Jesus Christ
Who was willing to lay down her life
And do His Will no matter what the Price
I am singing for the deaf man who can hear about salvation through my song
and I'm singing for the blind man who can see the Light in me and come along
Live for Jesus, that's what matters
And when other houses crumble my is strong
Live for Jesus, that's what matters
That you see the Light in me and come along
There are times that I am tempted to turn off the rugged road I travel on
There are times I say Jesus can't you find another girl to sing your song
But I know it's not that I'm the only one who can sing this melody
He has chosen me to bless me and to lead me into what is best for me
Live for Jesus, that's what matters
And when other houses crumble my is strong
Live for Jesus, that's what matters
That you see the Light in me and come along
Live for Jesus, that's what matters
And when other houses crumble my is strong
Live for Jesus, that's what matters
That you see the Light in me and come along
See the Light in me and come along

All of my children are going through something that is challenging their faith in Jesus Christ. I turn to a song that I have listen to when the way seems dark and no hope in sight. I must also turn to the foundation of this song. God's Word!
2 Corinthians 1:4 (English Standard Version)
4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

This is for all of them. Even in the pain and trouble.

Live for Jesus

That's what Matters.

Some day soon you will sing for Jesus again!

Thank You Lord- Paul Clark

If you have days where you just feel completely toasted and sick. I would encourage you to sing this song under your lips. A Thankful Spirit for God's Salvation will cover all the events you go through and make them so small.
